Tried:
Updating firmware/tunes
Change power levels; went from stock to mild
Returned to stock
Re-checked speed limiter setting, is @ stock

Subject: Idle Tune - by: randalp http://www.hsperformance.com/1/forum2/66l-lml-duramax-tech-questions/14353-idle-tune#14353 http://www.hsperformance.com/1/forum2/66l-lml-duramax-tech-questions/14353-idle-tune#14353
If I understood correctly, the tune would basically allow minimal boost at idle to position the veins in the turbo instead of the VVT going through it's test function. I could have completely misunderstood, but I think this would be a great asset if H&S could pull it off!! Any info is greatly welcomed.]]>

I have a 2010 pickup, II phat shaft 66, 100HP injectors, 85% over CP3, H&S Maxx Flow Intake/piping, H&S EGR delete kit.

Before I had all the goodies on this rig, the default H&S tunes worked very well for being out of the box. Throttle response was better, had awesome midrange torque, and really did not smoke much at all. I was running the ATT, so the turbo was lighting fast and cleaning things up pretty nice. But things changed drastically once I installed the injectors and the CP3 though, it got really smoky. I lived with the smoke until I got the new turbo bolted on there, but even then there were areas that overfueled.

I had high hopes and was waiting for EFI Live to come out, but after reading that they were not going to work on it for a while I decided to give MCC a shot. I was a beta tester for H&S, so I have a few more weeks behind the wheel of this than some of you that just bought it. Being a guy that knows EFI in and out, it was pretty straightforward and easy to use MCC and start making files. The interface is nice, works pretty much the same as any other tuning tool available. You can see maps in table form, or in 3D form. I actually prefer the table form, as sometimes you can't see the axis completely when looking at it in 3D. With the table view, it is easy to see the axis and know exactly where you are changing things.

For tuning, I left the RP where it was at. I dropped the timing maps down to 24 degrees peak, and made it ramp up a little slower. I still need to play with the timing, but I have not had a chance to get on a dyno yet. I smoothed out the torque/fuel tables(these look just like mass fuel tables in the duramax files I have worked on), then really focused my time on the main injection duration table. This is ultimately what is controlling how much fuel is injected, and seems to work really well anytime I am trying to tone the fuel down for big injectors. I was able to tune the smoke output on the mid to top end perfectly with this table, but I actually found the torque/fuel tables worked better for fine tuning the bottom end, as it gives you a RPM axis.

I have not had a chance to play with the TCM tuning yet, but I am excited to jump into it. I have never done any trans tuning, but from looking at the layout it seems to be pretty straightforward. I want to get the ECM tuning perfected on a dyno first, then I will make the jump to the TCM.

Bottom line is that I am very impressed with the MCC software. There are still a few tables and parameters that I would like to see added, but from my contact with H&S it seems there are already on top of it. They are planning on adding more and more parameters as they have time, and judging by how they usually come through, I have no doubt that they will do it. MCC gives you everything that EFI gives you, and actually more, since there is TCM tuning. It is not a tool that you will instantly know how to use if you have never tuned before, but by making small changes at first and doing some internet research, even a beginner can start making tunes in a few days.]]>

cost me $120 to fill, and I get 400 Km's per tank in town with minimal hwy . i drive soft but I do run the "no power" setting 99% of the time. I am on schedule with fuel filters etc.

what are you guys getting, and what did you do to improve?]]>
