Ez tunes only uses its own (SEZ) transmission tune. This is slightly modified stock shifting. As for temps Friday I was towing my work trailer and had forgotten to engage the tow haul mode and my temps had gotten up to 179 but once I had enaged tow haul mode temps dropped to 169.

any of you guy,s out there that are pullin 10,000 lb or so on h,d with no power just wondering what other people,s tran,s temp,s are and what setting do you have it in?

3.73 gears with S1M, tranny temp stays around 170F, HD300 on no power. Glalderman drives a truck with 4.88 gears and found S1H works better, S1M shifts too low of RPM's and bogs the truck down so you might want to check your gear ratio.

The schedule one tunes lock the torque converter up on 4th and 5th which should help your transmission run cooler.

I was running miled with no power useing S1-M and high shift and i think i liked it better then the EZ tune im not sure yet i have to tow again tomorrow I will make up my mind then.
just to many options lol. im towing 16K and running 4:10 gears. i noted that most times in EZ the converter dont lock in 4th but one time it did when i was over 50 going up hill.

You're right Diesel Dave, there are a lot of opinions but they are for the most part based upon good personal experience and the way each tune makes an individual truck run. With that said, each truck is different, different gear ratios and different demands on the vehicle depending on where you live. When it comes down to it, you still have to run different tunes, watch your temps and figure out what your truck likes the best.

As a general rule of thumb, you definitely want your torque converter locked up in 4th if you're towing that kind of weight.

Be sure to post what you learn so that it can benefit other people having the same problem that might have a truck and conditions similar to yours.

I towed today and it does lock in 4th, it seemed to work well I see 30 psi of boost alot I do not have an smoke issue any more but that was in the tune the smoke went away once i updated. In alot of stop and go I seen 205 tranny temp other ten that it would run 168 to 180
my EGTs seen 1190 at the highest. my dash says 9.6 MPG i hope that is not right. I hope i get 10 MPG next weekend when i go to myrtle beach.

Sounds pretty close to what I see even though my tranny temp hasn't been getting up like that since I went to S1M. I go pretty easy on acceloration with any stop and go driving. If you continue seeing temps a little high you could always switch to a custom transmission pan that's deeper and holds more ATF. GAlawn has a good link for those.
