Hi all. What's the point of an EGR delete? I've done the CAT/DPF delete. I did it only to extend life of truck and a little to help with towing and gas mileage. Would it be worth it in my case. I've got the mini towing mild.

if the coolers fail coolant will enter your engine and will become hydrolocked. i'm taking mine off as soon as i get time.

basically at the moment, unburnt fuel (soot) is able to enter your engine(always has been) through the egr valve. the block off plates will create a 100% block from soot being able to enter. people will reccomend egr delete for longevity of the engine, keep in mind that reomving the egr coolers are illegal, and be careful if your in a state thats strict.

it also eliminates the risk of your egr coolers cracking and possibly hydrolocking your engine.

the minimaxx among with most other H&S tuners shut off your egr system upon tuning, but the risk of them clogging is still there. im happy I did mine ;)

A number of threads talk about this and you can get a lot of information from these. Even with the H&S shutting down the EGR, exhaust gas can still get by with higher pressure. Getting rid of the EGR system will significantly lower your exhaust gas temperature which will greatly extend the life of your engine and reduce the risk of blowing the head gaskits. I will be putting one on my truck this summer. Sooty, GA and others can expand on this further.

in addition to what Montana said-you get lower coolant temps and better throttle response and mileage.
